Robin Roberts Tells Letterman She’s ‘Healthier and Happier’

ABC/Fred Lee(NEW YORK) — Robin Roberts has watched Late Show With David Letterman countless times before. But the Good Morning America co-anchor had never appeared on the program. Not until Tuesday, when she visited Late Show to promote her new book, Everybody’s Got Something.

Roberts spoke with David Letterman about the medical obstacles she has faced and overcome. Roberts, a breast cancer survivor, was later diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome, or MDS, a rare blood disorder. She underwent a bone marrow transplant in 2012, receiving donor cells from her sister, Sally-Ann.

Through it all, she has maintained a positive outlook, saying she wouldn’t change a thing.

“I can look at you right now and say I am healthier and happier than I’ve ever been,” Roberts, 53, said. “That’s all that matters.”

Letterman remarked on the book’s title, saying how appropriate it is. “Nobody gets a free ride,” he said.

“You think you’re the only one,” Roberts said of life’s obstacles. “And my momma would say, ‘Honey, everybody’s got something.’ Everybody’s got something, not just a challenge, but something to give to help you get through that challenge.”

After taping the appearance, Roberts had a parting message for Letterman:

Former “Ice Road Truckers” Star Accused of Kidnapping, Threatening Prostitute

iStock/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — A former star of the History network series Ice Road Truckers: Deadliest Roads is facing kidnapping and extortion charges in connection with an alleged incident he had with a Las Vegas prostitute last December.

According to an arrest report obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, Tim Zickuhr gave a prostitute he hired who had an alias of “Snow White” — her birth name is Lisa Cadeau — his ATM card to withdraw payment for her services.

However, Zickuhr claimed, she withdrew more than the agreed-upon amount. She visited his apartment, where he allegedly punched her, threatened her, and locked her inside a closet. He asked Cadeau for a phone number of someone who could bring him the money he said he was owed, according to the report.

The report says Cadeau gave Zickuhr the phone number of a Las Vegas police officer she knew. He called the number and said that if he did not receive $1,000, he would take the woman to Mexico and kill her.

Long story short, he was arrested, but not before he allegedly forced Cadeau to jump out of a second-story window, causing her injuries to her face and arms.

Zickuhr, who was charged with kidnapping, extortion and coercion, is due in court on May 6.

Zickuhr was featured on Ice Road Truckers: Deadliest Roads in 2011.

Katy Perry Faces Fan in Katy Perry Trivia…and Loses

ABC/Jimmy Kimmel Live(LOS ANGELES) — Those Katy Perry trivia questions are tough.

Especially for Perry.

The pop starlet appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live Monday, facing off in a trivia contest against a superfan — the group’re called “Katy Kats” — named Emily.

“How well do you feel that you know Katy Perry?” Kimmel asked Perry.

“Very well,” she responded. “I’m ready to play me.”

Emily was ready to play, too. She had a Perry-themed wall constructed in her home, but later took it down at her boyfriend’s urging.

“At least you have a boyfriend,” Katy quipped.

“Yeah,” Emily said, smiling.

Julia Roberts Comments on Death of Half-Sister

Jason Merritt/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — For the first time since the death of her half-sister in February, comments from Julia Roberts following the tragedy have surfaced.

Roberts spoke to Wall Street Journal Magazine in late February about Nancy Motes’ death from a possible drug overdose, and the interview was released Monday.

“It’s just heartbreak,” she told Wall Street Journal Magazine, tearing up. “It’s only been 20 days. There aren’t words to explain what any of us have been through in these last 20 days. It’s hour by hour some days, but you just keep looking ahead.”

Motes was found dead in Los Angeles on Feb. 9 at the age of 37.

The Oscar winner added, “You don’t want anything bad to happen to anyone, but there are so many tragic, painful, inexplicable things in the world. But [as with] any situation of challenge and despair, we must find a way, as a family. It’s so hard to formulate a sentence about it outside the weepy huddle of my family.”

Roberts, 46, who spoke to the magazine as part of her promotion for her May 25 HBO movie The Normal Heart, added candid details about her personal life with husband Daniel Moder and her children Hazel and Phinnaeus, 9, and Henry, 5.

“By the time we had kids, I had accomplished things and felt secure about that part of my life,” she said. “I was so joyful moving into the family phase of my life in a sincere way.”

She also joked that when her twins arrived in 2004, she wanted to be with them as much as possible.

“For a long time the group weren’t even aware I had a job because I was home so much,” she added.

“Dancing with the Stars” Celebrating Party Anthems on Monday Night

ABC/Adam Taylor(LOS ANGELES) — Dancing with the Stars is throwing a party on Monday night. The show’s remaining couples will perform dances to popular party anthems.

Adding to the fun will be Redfoo of the musical duo LMFAO, whose hits include “Party Rock Anthem.” He will serve as a guest judge alongside Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba.

Candace Cameron Bure admits she’s not too familiar with Redfoo’s tunes, though her kids are. The former Full House star tells ABC News Radio, “The group’re going to say I’m so, like, ‘Mom! You’re embarrassing us!’ I’m totally an old lady sometimes when it comes to certain music.”

Cameron Bure’s days on Dancing with the Stars may be numbered, according to last week’s guest judge, Donny Osmond. She finished second-to-last on the leader board last Monday night.

Osmond says, “[W]hat I saw from her is so promising. She just needs to get her fans rallied and get those votes up.”

One couple will be eliminated on Monday night’s Dancing with the Stars, which begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time on ABC.
